5 June 2010 - Day 5

Today was a lazy day. I had some breakfast, finished my book, napped, talked to the boy and did some internet stuff, and finished my laundry. Have to have clean socks. Then I decided that I really shouldn't spend the whole day inside so I took a very short walk around the neighborhood. I was planning on just grabbing a sandwich or something cheap to eat, but i realized that except for my pastry the other day I hadn't really tried anything new. So I stopped at an Indian restaurant. The food was incredible. I couldn't tell you what it was called, but it was a very mild chicken curry. It had a savory taste underneath that was absolutely delicious. I think they mixed the curry powder with honey and maybe sweet potato puree. Delicious. I had rice and lentils too, but I couldn't finish it. I did notice that I ended up paying almost 2 pound for the smallest ginger ale I've ever seen. I think that tiny glasses are the norm in the 'classier' restaurants so I'll stick to water from now on. The other strange thing was that they brought all three items in separate dishes and then one large empty plate. I wasn't sure what to do about it. Guess I'm not used to 'fancy'. I ended up serving myself the chicken and some of the lentils on the plate. I hope that was right!
I came home with every intention to get my laundry and fold it, but I was sleepy and the laundry was warm, and I ended up napping for another 2 hours and only woke up when everyone else came in from their day and made rustling noises. So I woke up and came upstairs where Batman Begins is playing. So I might stay up and watch that or maybe I'll try and go back to sleep. It's my last night in London, and I don't have much planned for tomorrow except lunch with Wendy and then catching the overnight bus to Edinburgh at 11pm from Victoria Station. It should be an adventure. When I get to Dublin I'll have to decide if I like it enough to stay the extra day or if I'd rather push on to Killarney a day early. And looking at possible places to stay in Paris and such, I think I might hit Rome first. We'll see after a little more research.
